Cole Greene’s bases-loaded single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave Dover High a 7-6, walk-off win over Lake Forest in baseball on Thursday afternoon.
The Senators scored twice in their last at-bat to rally for the victory. Hunter Chambers (3-for-4) tripled home the tying run earlier in the seventh.
Connor Ridgway hit a pair of home runs for Dover while Brandon Yoder earned the win in relief.
Adam Schiff homered while Chase Killen had two hits for the Spartans, who led 4-0 after three innings.
Polytech 10, Woodbridge 2: Ocean Johnson allowed only three hits and struck out nine for the Panthers.
Johnson also had a three-run triple in the sixth. Connor Barlett added three hits, including a triple.
Woodbridge pitcher Seth Smart struck out 10.
Smyrna 4, Seaford 0: Nate Donahue allowed only one hit and struck out four in six innings as the Eagles blanked the Blue Jays.
Smyrna scored twice in both the second and seventh.
Jude Dean and Sean Martinez had Seaford’s hits.
Caesar Rodney 16, Sussex Academy 5: The Riders (5-2) used 19 hits to score a season-high 16 runs in their fifth straight win.
Andrew Rigby (2 doubles, 4 RBI) and Jaxson Monroney (2 doubles, 2 RBI) had four hits each for the Riders. Winning pitcher Cameron Lawson allowed just two hits in four innings with reliever Tate Wisniewski striking out six.
Theodore Layton and Luke Pietschmann had two hits apiece for the Seahawks.
Delmar 4, Milford 3: The Wildcats overcame an early 3-0 deficit, winning on Kyler Shepard’s walkoff single in the bottom of the seventh.
Andrew Callaway pitched the final six innings to earn the win with Gavin Linzy contributing a pair of hits.
Shawn Saxon, Mason Morris, and Nicholas Hurd each had a hit for the Buccaneers.
Delmarva Christian 11, Salisbury Christian 4: Carter Breasure went 3-for-3 for the Royals while Dylan Briggs homered.
Chandler Brown struck out 10 in four innings to earn the victory.
Softball
Caesar Rodney 13, Seaford 0: Peyton Shields threw a five-inning no-hitter with 11 strikeouts and one walk as the Riders improved to 7-0.
Shields also went 4-for-4 with a two-run single in CR’s eight-run first inning.
Woodbridge 7, Cape Henlopen 6: Payton Keeler singled home Emily Peterson with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Blue Raiders.
Keeler also homered and had three hits while Peterson pitched a complete game to earn the win.
Abbey Marsh had three hits for the Vikings with reliever Bri Windish allowing only three hits in seven innings.
Sussex Central 4, Delmar 0: Madge Layfield tossed a one-hitter with 18 strikeouts in the Golden Knights’ shutout win.
Catcher Kate Evick hit a two-run homer in the fifth and scored twice for Central.
Ashlyn Tapman threw a six-hitter with eight strikeouts for the Wildcats.
Indian River 10, Smyrna 5: Winning pitcher Kinsley Hall struck out 10 and had five RBI at the plate for the Indians.
Kirsten Johnson scored twice for Smyrna.
Laurel 14, Sussex Tech 1: Winning pitcher Kylee Hill threw a two-hitter with nine strikeouts and also homered with four RBI and three runs scored for the Bulldogs.
Laurel also got home runs from Mackenzie Whaley and Carlie Venables.
Kierstan Passwaters and Destiny Mitchell had the Ravens’ hits.
Appoquinimink 7, Delmarva Christian 2: Winning pitcher Savannah Laird threw a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts for the Jaguars.
Royals’ pitcher Lilli Showacre also struck out 10.
Girls’ soccer
Smyrna 9, Sussex Tech 0: Desiree Zappata tallied the first three goals of the North game before finishing with four for the Eagles.
Halle Geiger made four saves in the shutout for Smyrna, which held advantages of 18-5 in shots and 7-2 in corner kicks.
Ebony Wilson made 10 saves for the Ravens.
Caesar Rodney 7, Polytech 0: Gabrielle Davis tallied six straight goals to pace the Riders to the North victory.
Davis also assisted on CR’s first goal, by Hannah Glanden, as the Riders outshot the Panthers, 20-2.
Sussex Central 3, Milford 1: Bayleigh Perdue tallied all three goals for the Golden Knights, who got nine saves from Banesa Vasquez-Morales.
Indian River 7, Woodbridge 0: Sophia Scurci (2 assists) netted three goals with Isabella Scurci adding two to pace the Indians.
IR led 4-0 at halftime.
Anjolie Suberro had 15 saves for the Blue Raiders.
Sussex Academy 2, Lake Forest 0: Merrill Smith and Sharon Rodriguez both scored goals as the Seahawks won their fourth straight shutout.
Emma Westbrook made three saves as Sussex Academy finished with advantages of 14-3 in shots and 10-1 in corner kicks.
Caravel 5, Delmar 0: Lily Baker made 11 saves for the Wildcats in the loss.
Boys’ lacrosse
Radnor, Pa. 12, Cape Henlopen 8: Radnor out-scored the Vikings, 7-2, in the second half to rally for the victory.
Luke Burton (1 assist) and Mikey Frederick both scored twice for Cape (5-1) while Hank D’Ambrogi added a goal and four assists. The Vikings’ Evan Erhardt made 12 saves.
First State Military 15, Delcastle 1: The Bulldogs (5-3) picked up their fourth win in a row.
Dover 14, Sussex Tech 6: The Senators picked up a Henlopen North win on the road.
Cape Henlopen 25, Milford 1: The Vikings netted 15 first-quarter goals en route to the North victory.
Polytech 13, Sussex Central 6: The Panthers earned a win in Henlopen North action.
Gavin Burton netted four goals and an assist for the Golden Knights.
College baseball
Delaware 13, Norfolk State 6: The Hornets scored the game’s final nine runs to rally for the win in the opener of a four-game MEAC series.
Delaware State (12-15) got home runs from Jordan King and Trey Paige (3-for-5, 3 RBI), finishing with 13 hits in the contest. Mike Carrington (Dover) earned his first win of the season after throwing 3.2 innings in relief.
Hiram Davis (Dover) and Brandon Hatch (Caesar Rodney) closed out the victory.
