The Cape/Georgetown Junior League baseball team has fought its way back to the finals.
Cape/Georgetown won a doubleheader on Tuesday and has staved off elimination five times to reach today’s championship round of the East Regional.
On Tuesday, Cape/Georgetown opened with a 6-1 victory over Connecticut. It then knocked off New Jersey 6-3.
Cape/Georgetown plays at 10 a.m. against the only remaining unbeaten team — Pennsylvania. Cape/Georgetown will need to beat Pennsylvania twice to earn the regional title while Pennsylvania only needs one win.
Against Connecticut, Kye Wells and Jonathan Stokley each had two-hit games while Carter Breasure and Timothy Hitchcock combined to allow just the one run.
Wells recorded three hits in the second game of the day while Nick Cox was 3-for-3 with a RBI. Stokley knocked in a pair of runs.
Cox pitched five innings to earn the win.

Mid County Lanes hosting PBA event Aug. 17-19: The pro bowlers tour will make what has become an annual stop in Delaware later in August.
Mid County Lanes will be celebrating its 10th year of hosting a PBA event Aug. 17-19.
It all started as a regional tournament in 2009 but this year’s event will mark the fourth year that a PBA national title is up for grabs when the pro field, with a few amateurs tossed in, competes Saturday-Sunday.
The PBA Gene Carter’s Pro Shop Classic over the weekend will follow a very active Pro-Am Day on Friday. Nearly 280 junior and adult amateur bowlers from the region will get a chance to bowl with some of the top players on tour. Most of the juniors will be competing for over $4,000 in scholarship money while the adults battle for a $6,500 prize fund.
The “Carter’s Classic” will reward its winner $15,000.
Five pros from Lower Delaware will be part of the 150 bowler pro field: Tim Foy, Jr, Seaford; Mike Hastings, Millsboro; Willard Isaacs, Jr, Kenton; Josh Schmehl, Millsboro and Matt Wozney of Clayton. Foy and Hastings own PBA regional titles.
Four members of the PBA Hall of Fame - Parker Bohn, III, Jason Couch, Walter Ray Williams, Jr and Danny Wiseman - are also in the field. Wiseman, from Baltimore, has two victories at Mid County Lanes, 2013 and 2010. Beset by injuries Wiseman has not toured regularly in a few years. Couch also has a win at Mid County in 2014.
Tournament Pass ($10) tickets are on sale at Mid County Lanes.
