Craig Williams (14 points), Messiah Antwi (12) and Mekhi Tribbett (10) all scored in double figures for the Riders, who led 38-16 by halftime.
Eleven players netted at least two points for the Riders, who are 9-8 overall with three regular-season games remaining.
Seaford 78, Sussex Academy 20: The Blue Jays used a 23-4 run in the first quarter en route to the South victory.
Kashmeir Wise had 15 points to lead Seaford (13-4) with Tyrese Fortune (14) and Wesnel Romain (11) also reaching double figures.
Archmere 66, Delmarva Christian 64: The Auks out-scored the Royals, 12-10, in overtime to pull out the win.
Trailing by nine at halftime, Delmvara Christian out-scored Archmere, 15-3, in the third quarter to take a three-point lead.
Laurel 68, Delmar 49: Javier White (20), Nifere Griffin (18) and Kylse Wilson (16) all paced the Bulldogs to the South win.
Girls’ basketball
Delmar 55, Laurel 52: The Wildcats edged the Bulldogs in a Henlopen South
contest on Monday.
Seaford 40, Sussex Academy 18: The Blue Jays started the South contest on a 17-5 run before earning the win.
College baseball
DSU’s Paige earns top MEAC honor: Delaware State third baseman Trey Paige has been selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Baseball Preseason Player of the Year.
Also, Delaware State has been picked to finish second in the four-team MEAC baseball regular-season race. Defending champ Norfolk State is the preseason favorite.
Paige, a 2021 All-MEAC first-team honoree, was tops on the Hornets and tied for third in the MEAC with a .371 batting average last season. In addition, he was second in the MEAC with 91 total bases and the Hornets’ leader in hits (52), doubles (13), home runs (5), walks (29) and runs batted in (32) during the 2021 campaign.
Joining Paige on the Preseason All-MEAC team are outfielder Miguel Rivera and starting pitcher Jordan Haddaway.
College football
Oravitz, two others join Carty’s staff: Delaware football coach Ryan Carty has announced that Jerry Oravitz will transition into a senior administrative role while J.T. Tober has been promoted to Director of Football Video. Additionally, Brett Arnold makes his return to Newark as the General Manager of the football program.
Oravitz has been a member of Delaware athletics for 25 years and will be transitioning over to a newly-created role. Oravitz was instrumental in the fundraising efforts which resulted in the renovation of Delaware Stadium and the new Whitney Athletic Center.
College basketball
MEN, Norfolk State 69, Delaware State 66: The Hornets made a late run before falling short of their first MEAC win.
The Hornets (0-9 MEAC, 2-19 overall) closed within three on back-to-back three-point plays from first Myles Carter (14) and then John Stansbury (15) with 42 seconds left but couldn’t get any closer. DelState, which led by as many as eight points in the contest, were last in front, 58-57, before the Spartans went on a 12-2 run to go up 69-60.
WOMEN, Delaware 71, Hofstra 58: Jasmine Dickey netted 36 points and the Blue Hens shook off a five-point, second-quarter deficit in the CAA victory on Sunday.
Dickey, who was the only UD player on the court for all 40 minutes, also had seven rebounds, four steals and three blocked shots. She was 13-of-23 from the field.
Tyi Skinner added 12 points for Delaware (12-1 CAA, 18-5 overall), which won its eighth game in a row.
Norfolk State 76, Delaware State 31: The Spartans went up 40-14 by intermission in the MEAC contest.
Unique Miller with 13 points was the only player to reach double figures for the Hornets (0-8 MEAC, 0-17 overall).
CAA honors Hens’ Dickey again: For the second-straight week, Delaware’s Jasmine Dickey was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week. This is Dickey’s fourth weekly honor this season.
As part of Delaware’s three-straight road wins in five days, Dickey averaged 26.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.7 steals, 2.0 assists, 1.3 blocks per contest while shooting 42.4 percent (28-of-66) from the field and 91.3 (21-of-23) from the free-throw line.
On the season, Disney is averaging 25. 5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.1 blocks per game.
College lacrosse
UD goalie earns award: Delaware men’s lacrosse goalkeeper Matt Kilkeary has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week.
In a win over Mt. St. Mary’s, Kilkeary finished with 16 saves, one shy of his career high. The Mountaineers fired 43 shots with 22 coming on goal. He also scooped up three groundballs.
Hens stay in Top 20: The Delaware men’s lacrosse team (2-0) was voted No. 14 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine poll, No. 17 in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association poll, and No. 18 in the Inside Lacrosse poll.
The Blue Hens make their first road trip of the season, when they play at Saint Joseph’s on Tuesday afternoon.
