Camden-Wyoming downed M.O.T.-Red, 7-2, as District I’s Pat Knight baseball tournament got underway on Saturday.
Jacob Weeks and Caden Heritage both pitched for Camden-Wyoming in the seven-team, double-elimination bracket being played at Dover.
Camden-Wyoming’s Tyler Tareateau and Joshua Fredericks both had two hits, Isaac Thomas tripled and Sven Lundin had a two-run single.
C-W plays again today at 6 p.m.
Eddie Stranahan doubled for M.O.T.-Red with Ian Keane and Sawyer Denham both scoring runs.
Deak Deakins Tournament
Camden-Wyoming/Gold 12, M.O.T.-Red 0: Shane Powell (4 runs) and Makai Parker had three hits apiece for Camden-Wyoming/Gold in their tourney opener at Felton.
Jaidrian Sanchez (triple, 2 hits, 3 RBI), Julius McCray (double, 1 RBI) and Colin Vayne (2 hits, double) also paced C-W.
Aiden Scherer had the lone hit for M.O.T.-Red.
M.O.T.-Blue 14, Camden-Wyoming/Blue 12: Brendan Hortiz, Tyler Barch and Bryce Jenks all had three hits for M.O.T.-Blue in the back-and-forth win.
Hayden Gunning (2 homers, 5 RBI, 3 runs), Ethan Thompson (2 doubles), Kenyan Baines (homer) and Trent Hall (2-for-2, double) all led Camden-Wyoming.
Felton-Blue 11, Smyrna-Clayton/Red 8: Gavin Brown went 4-for-4 and made some good defensive plays in the field to lead Felton-Blue.
Third baseman Zachary Gilbert and second baseman Cam Miller played strong defense for Felton-Blue.
Milford 13, Felton-White 5: Keegan Dehahey and Brody Skinner both went 3-for-3 to pace Milford to the victory.
Cameron Willey added a pair of hits.
Walt Bowers tournament
M.O.T.-Blue 17, Milford 7: Winning pitcher Cameron Crowe struck out seven for M.O.T.-Blue, which scored six runs in the fourth.
Hunter Walsh (3-for-3) and Jude Collins (double, 4 RBI) also led M.O.T.-Blue.
For Milford, Manny Mendoza (2 runs, 2 RBI), Matt Parsons, J.J. Hitchens (2 runs) and Jaden Rushman (1 run) all had hits.
American Legion
Patriots earn split: Trey Toppin pitched a one-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks in the Post 6 Patriots’ 1-0 win over Post 10 Generals in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday.
Justin Gray drove in the contest’s lone run in the fourth.
The Generals limited the Patriots to one hit in winning the opener, 5-0. Mitch Moyer had Post 6’s hit.
Softball
Lynn Deakins tournament
Milford 16, Camden-Wyoming 14: Juliana Brown, Julia Gorolski and Victoria Smith all went 2-for-4 for Milford in its victory on Saturday.
Pitcher Kyla Tilghman earned the victory for Milford, which faces Dover today at Smyrna-Clayton.
Madison Hunt, who doubled, and Abby Crockett had two hits each for Camden-Wyoming while catcher Arianna Miller recorded two outs at home plate.
8-10-year-old tournament
Camden-Wyoming/Blue 3, Milford 2: Julie Pence had two RBI while Faith Dorr drove in the other run in Camden-Wyoming’s victory.
M.O.T.-Red 14, Felton 0: MacKenzie Malloy, Abigail Marshall and Kay Wooleyhand all went 3-for-3 for M.O.T.-Red.
Gracie Carroll, Alxis Rexrode and Ariah Brown had hits for Felton.
Smyrna-Clayton 15, Marydel-Hartly 0: Ella Kelley (double, 3 RBI), Kennedy Mareno (triple) and Kaitlyn Brierly (homer) each had two hits to pace Smyrna-Clayton.
Also contributing two hits were Paxtyn Dixon, Jaylen Ryan, Peyton Cobb and Ava Melson.
M.O.T.-Blue 12, Camden-Wyoming/Gold 1: M.O.T.-Blue used a six-run fourth inning to take control before finishing with 16 hits in the contest.
