DOVER — A 22-year-old Dover man was arrested after being found with a loaded handgun following an alleged attempt to flee from a traffic stop early Thursday, Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said.
Police said Tywon Peace was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped following a traffic violation in the area of Loockerman Street and Legislative Avenue at 3:16 a.m. The vehicle pulled into the rear parking lot of the Dover Public Library and stopped, and police said Mr. Peace then exited a rear passenger seat and fled on foot.
Mr. Peace was quickly apprehended, police said, and a small amount of marijuana was also located.
He was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana. He was issued a $10,501 cash bond.
