DOVER - Lloyd Black Wells passed away Tues., Sept. 3, 2013, at Westminster Village. Mr. Wells was born June 1, 1916 in Teachey, N.C. to the late Julian May Wells and Daisy Forlaw Wells. He was one of 11 siblings. He graduated from the Presbyterian College in Maxton, N.C. He had served in the United States Navy during WWII on the USS Sanctuary Hospital ship, where he learned how to make dentures. In 1951, he opened his own dental lab in Dover, retiring in 1986, and was past president of the Dental Laboratories Association of Delaware. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Dover as well as an Elder. Mr. Wells was also a member of the SAR (Sons of the American Revolution) and Elks Lodge #1903, Dover. He enjoyed watching and playing golf and following the Philadelphia Phillies. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by nine siblings. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Virginia M. Waldron Wells of Dover; daughters, Leslie Denny and her husband David and Nancy Parish and her husband Patrick all of Dover; sister, Annie Hadley and her husband David of Westminster, Md.; grandchildren, Kathy and Erin Denny, Jason and Amy Parish. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Fri., Sept. 6, 2013 at the Presbyterian Church of Dover, 54 S. State Street, Dover. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Presbyterian Church of Dover, 54 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901.
