LINCOLN - Lillie Montrose Allen Henry, of Lincoln, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007, at home after a long illness on. She was 53.
Lillie was born Aug. 13, 1954, in Milford, the daughter of George and Emma Jane Allen.
She was educated in the Milford public school system.
After attending Milford High School, Lillie worked with various corporations within the Milford area and was also a homemaker at diverse times.
She also held various positions at the local canneries.
One June 11, 1954, she married the late Norman W.T. Henry Sr. This union was blessed with six children.
A great treasure in life to Lillie was family.
She worked hard and sacrificed to assist her husband in providing for the family.
Although Lillie rarely traveled outside of Delaware, she would travel to North Carolina and various cities in Virginia to attend family reunions.
In addition to her parents, Lillie was preceded in death by her son, Tennile Allen; her husband; and her brother, Wardell Allen Sr.
She is survived by one daughter, Shawana Henry of Lincoln; four sons, Briansellous Allen of Belleville, Ill., Nathaniel and his wife Chiquita of Milford, Norman Jr. and Donnie, both of Lincoln; a brother, John Allen of Lincoln; one sister, Donna and her husband Walter Cartwright of Richmond, Va.; one aunt, Carlos Mullen of Elizabeth City, N.C.; two stepsons, Jerry and his wife Dawn Smith of Felton and Norman Fisher of Dover; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a dear sister-in-law, Irene Allen; a dear mother-in-law, Dorothy Cubbage; godson and goddaughter, Jerome and Oneida Mullen; special friends Ronnie Rickards, Sharron Dunford, Rufus Lewis and Ivory Burton; and a host of other relatives, family and friends.
Family and friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday in Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Slaughter Neck.
Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m.
Interment will be in Old Hickory Cemetery, Slaughter Neck.
