Wake up, everyone. Your ability to form a government by the people is being eroded at every level, from local school boards to the president of the U.S.
Making access to voting harder is not the same as making it more secure. Showing valid ID in person at the polls is still the most secure way to vote. Absentee ballots have been a secure option for years by requesting a ballot in advance of an election.
Mail-in ballots can be handled the same way as early voting and Saturday voting. All good options. Removing options is not security. It’s suppression.
Voting for your choice of candidate is the right of every citizen, to select by majority those persons to represent us all. And if your choice doesn’t win, you can try again next time.
This is the foundation our country was built on and, so far, has stood the test of time.
So when you consider a candidate locally, statewide or federal, know where they stand. Will they protect your access to and your right to vote?
