Liberty County sheriff deputies pulled over a bus carrying the Delaware State University women’s lacrosse team because it was in the far-left lane. In a recorded video, the bus driver tells a deputy sheriff that the sign he saw said “trucks” were not allowed in that lane. The deputy tells the driver that the law applies to all six-wheel vehicles.
Perhaps this is a good time for the sheriff and his deputies to review the section of the state code concerning prohibited lane usage by trucks using multilane highways (Georgia Department of Public Safety’s Official Code of Georgia Annotated, 40-6-52). It begins: “As used in this Code section, the term ‘truck’ means any vehicle equipped with more than six wheels, except buses and motorcoaches.”
Perhaps they could also check with a constitutional lawyer or a civics teacher on the constitutional rights of the women on the bus.
