LeRoy David Croghan, 67

ELLIOTTS ISLAND - LeRoy David Croghan, age 67, of Elliotts Island, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Mallard Bay Care Center, Cambridge. Born on Sept. 15, 1941, in Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Edward James Croghan and Dorothy Croghan. Mr. Croghan served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp from Oct. 14, 1958, to Oct. 23, 1961. Mr. Croghan moved to Elliotts Island from Washington, D.C. in 1985 after retiring from twenty years as a police officer from the District of Columbia Police Department. Mr. Croghan enjoyed fishing and his life on Elliotts Island. Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, David M. and Betty Croghan and a grandson, Michael Croghan, all of O'Fallon, Mo. He is also survived by his many friends on Elliotts Island that he considered also family. Military Honors will begin the Celebration of Life Service led by family and friends to be held at Mr. Crogan's home, 2234 Elliotts Island Rd., Elliotts Island on Sunday, July 5th at Noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Elliotts Island United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o 2232 Elliotts Island Rd., Vienna, MD 21869.
