HURLOCK - Leona Margaret Charvat, 52, of Hurlock, died Feb. 13, 2011, at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. Born in Baltimore on Aug. 14, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Mazan and Margaret Jackson Kryder. At the time of her death she was employed as a Quality Assurance Administrator for Global Defense Technical and Systems in Easton. She is survived by her husband, whom she married on Jan. 14, 2010, Steven W. Charvat of Hurlock; a daughter, Heather Loeffler and her husband Ron of East New Market; two grandchildren, Austin and Monica Loeffler of East New Market; six brothers, Alfred Mazan of Curtis Bay, Stanley Mazan of San Francisco, Victor Mazan of Baltimore, Steven Mazan of Baltimore, James Mazan of Curtis Bay, Mark Mazan of Brooklyn; three sisters, Camillia Hayes of Baltimore, Darlene Donovan of Edgewood, and Rachel Hampton of Colorado; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Chadwick B. "Chuck" Pierce, Jr. The family received friends on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Secretary, where friends called one hour prior to the service. Rev. Anthony Greco was the celebrant. Interment followed in Dorchester Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, P.O. Box 279, Secretary, MD 21664.
