EASTON - Lena Mae Sharp, age 89, of Easton, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at William Hill Manor, Easton. Born on March 3, 1922, in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Harry James Burklew and Nettie Thomas Burklew. Raised and educated in Preston, Mrs. Sharp worked at the Memorial Hospital at Easton as an LPN for most of her career. On Jan. 9, 1943, she married James D. Sharp. Mrs. Sharp retired from Easton Memorial to become Dan's caregiver during his bout with cancer. Her hobbies included gardening and canning the harvest. Surviving are her two sons, James Daniel Sharp Jr. and his wife Cindy of Griffin, Ga., Timothy L. Sharp and his wife Nancy of Cambridge; two grandsons, James E. Sharp and his wife Connie of Washington, Lawson Y. Sharp and his wife deVismes of Trappe; two step-grandchildren, Renee' LeMire and her husband Mike, Brian Roche, all of Cambridge; three great-grandchildren, Timothy R. Sharp, Alexandra P. Sharp, both of Trappe, Bianca Sharp of Washington; two great-grandchildren, Conner M. LeMire and Max J. LeMire, both of Cambridge; and numerous brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death in 2005 was her husband of 62 years, J. Daniel Sharp; and her son, Michael R. Sharp. A memorial service will be 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Curran- Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., 308 High Street, Cambridge, where the family will receive friends a half hour prior. Immediately following the service a reception will be held at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held privately at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Easton, at a later date. Since Mrs. Sharp was such a dedicated nurse and supporter of Memorial Hospital, the family encourages that in lieu of flowers, memorial offerings be made in Mrs. Sharp's memory to the Memorial Hospital Foundation, 121 Federal St., Easton, MD 21601; or online at www.shorehealth.org/giving/ or support given to the Talbot Humane Society, PO Box 1143, Easton, MD 21601.
