SMYRNA - Lee Allen VanHekle, age 27, of Oklahoma City, Okla., formerly of Smyrna, passed away on December 8, 2015 at his home. Lee was born March 31, 1988 in Newark, the son of David Allen VenHekle, Sr. of Smyrna and Rose Marie VanHekle of Middletown. He worked as an Auto Mechanic. Lee was an all around great athlete but was especially known to be great wrestler. An adventurous person, Lee also enjoyed working on cars, fishing, BBQ's, tubing and playing with his dogs. He was a devoted family man and was always willing to help others in need with his generosity. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his fiancée, Tanae Shaw; four brothers, David Allen VanHekle, Jr. and his wife Kristen Lena of Clayton, Brian Michael VanHekle of Townsend, Kevin Jacob VanHekle, Sr. and his wife Sherry Anne Marie of Middletown, and Michael William VanHekle of Smyrna; his paternal grandparents, Carl and Elizabeth VanHekle of Ocean Pines, Md.; his pop-pop, Mike Dennis of Wilmington; and several extended family members. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna. In lieu of flowers, the family is kindly seeking contributions to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
