WILMINGTON - Lee Allen Cornish died on Aug. 7, 2009, at the Heartland Hospice House in Wilmington. Born June 17, 1954, in Cambridge, Md., he was the son of Apostle/Bishop Clarence Cornish and Mother Rosa Lee Cornish. Lee Allen attended P.S. Dupont High School in Wilmington. He was last employed at Icelandic USA. Lee was a member of New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Apostle/Bishop C. Cornish. He leaves to cherish found memories of him, his father, Apostle/Bishop Clarence Cornish; his mother, Mother Rosa Lee Cornish; three daughters, LeVestine Woodruff, Mia Woodruff, and Ivy Price, all of Wilmington; four grandsons, Idris Young, Kevin Chambers, Dai'yaan Wharton, and Anthony Woodruff, also of Wilmington; four sisters, Joyce Bell, Evangelist Theresa Davis of Cambridge, Md., Prophetess Priscilla Cornish and Jusortine Joyner of Marion, S.C.; eleven brothers, Clarence Cornish Jr. of Baltimore, James Cornish, Jerry Cornish, Bishop Keith Cornish, Apostle John Cornish, Geett Cornish, Minister Rip Cornish, Elder Clarence Cornish III, all of which are from Cambridge, Md., Apostle Anthony Cornish of Wilmington; brother and best friend, Apostle David Cornish and Bishop Hojane Cornish of Marion, S.C.; in-laws, Roy Bell, Elder Nehemiah Davis, Sandra Cornish, Sister Susanne Cornish, Sister Edwina Cornish, Sister Mary Cornish, Sister Tina Cornish, Dion Cornish, Sister Elizabeth Cornish and Sister Asia Cornish; six aunts, Hattie Thompson, Mary Gregg, Mother Margaret Cephas, Sister Valerie Copper, Audrey Thomas and Reverend Louise Cornish; three uncles, Minister Donald Copper, George Thomas and Elder Wallace Thompson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, as well as a special friend that mothered his children, Terri Lee Harland of Wilmington. Preceding him in death, maternal grandparents, Alvin and Essie Sheffield; paternal grandparents, Anthony and Rosie Cornish; uncles, Willie Hayes, Melvin Cornish, Larry Cornish, Allen Lee Sheffield, and Andrew Cornish; and aunts, Leana Pearl Sheffield Tilghman, Emma Lee Sheffield and Ernestine Thompson. The services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at Souls Harbor Church of God, 718 Peachblossom Ave., Cambridge, Md. There will be a public viewing from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Ministry of Comfort provided by Bennie Smith Funeral Home.
