Lawrence C. Webb

WYOMING - Lawrence C. Webb, Sr., (Bossy) passed away Tues., Mar. 12, 2013 after a short illness, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted family man and friend who touched the lives of many people throughout his life. Lawrence was born in 1935 at Kent General Hospital, Dover, Del., the son of the late Milbourn M. and Barbara (Chipman) Webb. He was a 1953 graduate of Caesar Rodney High School where he excelled in football and track. He also belonged to the FFA. Lawrence was a lifelong dairy and crop farmer in the Wyoming area. He enjoyed working on the family farm, L.C. Webb & Bros., surrounded by the people he loved. He was a Delaware Farm Bureau member. Lawrence was an avid rabbit dog trainer and enjoyed winning at the field trials and was a Life Member of the Diamond State Beagle Club. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and playing the NASCAR pool with his family and friends. He also liked race horses and watched the harness races. He would smile and say, "no, I'm not going to bet on them!" He and his brother, Tommy owned a special horse, Bucks Machine "Bucky" that they raced together. Lawrence is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Burke Webb; a daughter, Beverly Webb Gibson; and son-in-law, Joseph Gibson. He is survived by a son, Lawrence C. Webb, Jr. "Chip" and his wife Terri of Wyoming; siblings, Junior Webb, Tommy Webb and his wife Mary Anne of Wyoming, Blanche "Sis" Satterfield and husband Jimmy of Wyoming, and Barbara Ann Staats and her husband Jimmy of Viola; grandchildren, Erica Kohout and her husband Jason of Dover, Rebecca Zink and her husband Elijah of Dover, Ryan Webb and Paula Kohout of Camden, John Gregory Gibson "Greg" and Matthew Gibson and Bryce Webb of Camden; great grandchildren, Jaylynn Webb and Wyatt Long of Camden; Sara and Joshua Zink of Dover and Riley and Trevor Kohout of Dover. Service will be 12 p.m. on Mon., Mar. 18, 2013 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather two hours earlier. Burial will follow in Odd Fellow Cemetery, Camden. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Lawrence C. and Nancy B. Webb, Sr. Scholarship Fund, FFA at 1016 Thicket Rd, Wyoming, DE 19934. Letters of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com
