Laurel man faces dozens of firearms charges

LAUREL — A 24-year-old Laurel man was charged with 68 felony offenses following an investigation into illegal firearm purchases, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Heather Pepper said.

Keyon Dontae Jabre Eley allegedly purchased 38 guns for others, including individuals prohibited from purchasing them, authorities said. He was located Nov. 3 with a gun he had purchased and was taken into custody without incident, Cpl. Pepper added.

Mr. Eley was charged with 38 counts of engaging in a firearm transaction on behalf of another, 29 counts of intentionally making or writing false statements intended to or likely to deceive a licensee in the purchase of a firearm and one count of illegal gang participation.

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on a $136,000 secured bond.
