Laurel man charged with felony DUI

LAUREL - Dale Wilson, 58, of Laurel, was arrested on felony driving under the influence and drug possession charges following a traffic stop Monday night, authorities said.

According to Delaware State Police, Mr. Wilson was driving a Ford F-250 at approximately 9:39 p.m. when seen not wearing a seatbelt at the intersection of Grazing Court and Discount Land Road.

A trooper stopped Mr. Wilson’s vehicle in the Hollybrook apartment complex, police said.

According to police, the trooper noticed signs of impairment. The trooper began a DUI investigation and Mr. Wilson was taken into custody without incident.

A search of the truck led to the discovery of approximately 8.07 grams of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia, police said. Troopers also found additional paraphernalia that Mr. Wilson had thrown into the grass during the traffic stop, police said.

Mr. Wilson was charged with third offense driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier I quantity, tampering with physical evidence, providing a false statement to law enforcement, possession of drug paraphernalia, and several traffic offenses.

Following arraignment at Justice of the Peace Court 3, Mr. Wilson was released on his own recognizance.
