LAUREL — Tradon Mccants, 31, of Laurel, was arrested Sunday on home-invasion and related charges, Delaware State Police said.
Spokeswoman Master Cpl. Heather Pepper said troopers were dispatched to the 30000 block of Discount Land Road at approximately 8:20 p.m. for a home invasion in progress. Upon arrival, officers located Mr. Mccants standing inside the residence’s front door.
After multiple commands, police said, the suspect exited the home and was taken into custody. A search of his person revealed a concealed folding knife and drug paraphernalia, Cpl. Pepper said.
The investigation determined that two female residents were inside the home when they heard a knock on the front door and saw Mr. Mccants outside.
Cpl. Pepper said Mr. Mccants hit the wooden door, causing glass on it to shatter. As the door opened quickly, it struck one of the females, police added.
The two residents ran to a window, climbed out and hid, as they called 911 and waited for police.
Mr. Mccants suffered minor injuries that did not require medical attention. The females also did not require medical care.
The suspect was charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, first-degree burglary, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, criminal mischief over $1,000, possession of drug paraphernalia and offensive touching. He was arraigned at the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on a $62,200 secured bond.
