DOVER - Laura Morell, passed away Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, in Smyrna. She was born on July 4, 1921, in Caguas, Puerto Rico; to Blas and Casmira(Torres) Pineiro. After arriving from Puerto Rico, Laura settled in New York City, where she became the owner of a grocery store. She was also very talented with her hands, and enjoyed making hats, dolls, sewing , cooking and cleaning. Laura also loved listening to music and dancing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Morell. Laura is survived by her two, children, Olga Morell, of Dover and Gilbert Morell, of N.Y.C.; four grandchildren, Michael A. Perez, of Dover, Gilbert ,Alejandro and Andrea Morell, all of N.Y.C.; two great-granddaughters, Alyssa and Mikaela Perez, both of Dover. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 South State St., Dover; where family and friends may view 1 hour before. Burial will take place on Thursday in St. Raymond's Cemetery, Bronx, New York. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in her memory be made to Vitas Hospice, 100 Commerce Drive, Suite 302, Newark, DE 19713 Letters of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com
