WILMINGTON — Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware on Thursday announced its first-quarter BluePrints for the Community grant awardees, which will collectively receive more than $1.3 million in funding.

The program contributed more than $6.8 million in 2021 and has committed more than $22 million to Delaware nonprofits since its inception in 2007.

This year, Keystone Human Services will receive funding to support telehealth and rapid-access care for patients with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware will be provided monies for programming regarding mental health, trauma-informed care and overall wellness for youth.

Meanwhile, Good Neighbors will receive support for low-cost home repairs for those aging in place.

“On behalf of the BluePrints for the Community Advisory Council, we thank and congratulate this quarter’s recipients, as well (as) extend our appreciation to all our nonprofit partners who tirelessly serve our state,” said Rita Landgraf, the council’s chair.

Highmark is also partnering with the Delaware Medical Education Foundation, which supports the improvement and expansion of educational programs for physicians in the state.

BluePrints for the Community will be making a long-term investment in the foundation’s initiative to help independent primary care practices prepare for sustainable success in value-based services.

“Even before the pandemic, the shortage in the health care workforce and the challenges related to training and retention were of concern,” said Nick Moriello, president of Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware. “We are excited to work alongside the DMEF to help our primary care colleagues to ensure the best health outcomes for Delaware.”

The BluePrints grants support programs statewide that improve health outcomes. Applications are accepted on a quarterly basis here.

All Delaware 501(c)3 organizations are eligible to submit proposals that address social determinants of health, increase access to health care for the uninsured/underserved, reduce health disparities in minority communities, support early childhood health or recruit/train health care professionals.
