K. Wayne Watkins, 71

FEDERALSBURG - Kenneth Wayne Watkins, 71, of Nite Dove Farm, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2008 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, Del.

Wayne, one of 18 children, was born to the late Harley and Susie Townsend Watkins in Preston, on Aug. 16, 1936.

Wayne graduated from Hurlock High School, Class of 1954. After graduating he entered the United States Army in 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1958. Wayne owned and operated Best Termite & Pest Control for 34 years in Clinton.

He was a life member of VFW Post 5246 in Federalsburg and also a life member of the American Legion 243 in Hurlock.

Mr. Watkins is survived by his wife, the former Darlene "Dee" King whom he married on Nov. 26, 1995; by three children, Renee Patrella and her husband, Mike of North Ridge, Calif., Kenneth Watkins of Florida, Rachelle Freeman and her husband, Keith of Ridgely; two stepchildren, Adam Harris and his wife, Tammi of Mooresville, N.C. and Kelly Hutchinson and her husband, David of Clinton; three sisters, Rinky Kinnamon of Seaford, Del., Nora Evans of Hurlock, Betsy Sterling of Snow Hill and by two brothers, Harley Watkins of Laurel, Del. and Stengle Watkins of Cannon, Del. He will always be remembered as "granddaddy" to 14 grandchildren, Rachelle and Danielle Patrella; Ashley and Ryan Watkins; Casey, Max, Avery, and Alex Freeman; Mikayla, Alexis, and David Hutchinson; and Morgan, Malina, and Mia Bella Harris.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by several siblings.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, at Williamson Funeral Home, 311 South Main St., Federalsburg, with the Rev. Denzil Cheek officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9. Burial will be in McKendree Cemetery, Hurlock.

Pallbearers will be Keith Freeman, David Hutchinson, Chip Davis, Adam Harris, Jerry Nichols, and Eric Cunningham.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to his memory to the National Parkinson Foundation, Inc., 1501 NW 9th Ave., Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136-1494
