Kenneth E. Fatkin

MILLSBORO - Kenneth E. Fatkinformerly of Philadelphia, Pa. passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012 at his home. Mr. Fatkin was born on June 23, 1923 in Schuylkill Haven, Pa. son of the late Ernest and Emily (Deibler) Fatkin. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Ken retired from Allied Chemical and Union Carbide as a process operator. Mr. Fatkin was a member of American Legion Post 28 and the East Gate Presbyterian Church both in Millsboro, Del. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching football and NASCAR. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Fatkin in 1999; a son, Kenneth Fatkin, Jr.; and a brother, Richard Fatkin. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Carol K. Getz-Fatkin; a son, Gerald Fatkin and his wife Mary of Newark, Del; a daughter, Barbara Wagner and her husband Bruce of Sinking Spring, Pa; a step daughter, Susan Keller of Millsboro, Del; three brothers, Ernest, Jay, and George Fatkin; a sister, Doris Sweigert; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012 at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Rd., Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends and family may call after 10 a.m. Interment will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Kenneth's name to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or East Gate Presbyterian Church, 34806 Church Lane, Millsboro, DE 19966.
