Kennard Sterling Blunt Sr.

GREENSBORO, Md. - Kennard Sterling Blunt Sr., of Greensboro, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, in the Chester River Medical Center in Chestertown. He was 76. Mr. Blunt was born in Queen Anne County, Md. He was the son of the late Noah Walton Blunt and Beulah Mildred Hammond Blunt. Fondly known as "Hoppengator" or "Hoppy", Mr. Blunt was a self-employed grain hauler. He was the owner/operator of Blunt Trucking in Greensboro which he started in 1970. He was a US Army veteran and was an active member of the Caroline American Legion Post 29 in Denton. He was also a member of the Harrington, Del., Moose Lodge #534. Mr. Blunt is survived by two daughters, Brenda Walls and her husband Joe of Ridgely, and Penny Osborne and her husband John of Ridgely; three sons, Kennard S. "Bunky" Blunt Jr., and Amanda Blunt of Ridgely, Anthony Blunt and his wife Heather of Greensboro, and Donald "Rusty" Blunt and his wife Adrienne of Greensboro; six sisters, Florence McKnatt of Smyrna, Del., Helen Lane of Ridgely, Joan Chance of Clayton, Del., Grace Towers of Ridgely, Catherine Taylor of Federalsburg, Md., and Virginia Buckle of Price, Md.; two brothers, John (Jack) Blunt of Greensboro and Philip Blunt of Denton; 12 grandchildren, Bobbi-Jo Ringgold, Dustin Walls, Karri-Jo Walls, Bradley Osborne, Shane Osborne, Dylan Osborne, Greg Geaman, Brett Geaman, Katie Blunt, Ryan Blunt, Daniel "Towney" Rice III, and Cody Blunt; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Ashton; many nieces and nephews; and his "Sweetie" of 5 years, Sue Bilbrough of Greensboro. He was predeceased by three sisters, Mary Louise Gardner, Nettie Buckle, and Peggy Johnson; three brothers, Michael Blunt; two brothers, Wesley and Donald, who were lost in childhood. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second St., Denton, where friends may call from 6 until 8 on Friday evening.
