CENTREVILLE - Kathryn Richard Covington died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, Sun., Mar. 10, 2013. Born in Templeville, Md. on May 20, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Truman H. Richard and Anna V. Andersen Richard. She attended Greensboro High School, graduating class of 1954. She continued her education graduating from Goldey Beacom School of Business in 1955. She attended the School of Business through a work study program offered by Dupont. After graduation she continued with Dupont, working in Seaford, Del. On Aug. 7, 1955, she married Henry Covington, Sr. and they resided in Burrisville, Del. They later moved to Ingleside, Md. where she began working administratively for a local insurance office in Chestertown, Md. In 1958, Mrs. Covington took leave from work and the family moved to Centreville. In 1969, she began working at Maryland National Bank for 15 years, later working at Commodities Service International from 1984 to 1988. A faithful member of Centreville United Methodist Church, Kathryn was often requested to bake her famous coconut cream pies, very few of which were allowed to leave the church kitchen before being bought! She devoted her life to family, friends, church and neighbors. Besides her parents, eight siblings predeceased her, T. Charles Richard, Beatrice Wisk, William A. Richard, Audrey June Faulkner, Harvey J. Richard, Carlton H. Richard, Alfred L. Richard and George D. Richard. Mrs. Covington is survived by her loving husband, Henry; and two sons, Henry Covington, Jr. and wife Beth and Daniel R. Covington and wife, Penny, all of Centreville; seven grandchildren, William Covington, Benjamin Covington, Sarah Covington, Megan Covington, Lt. Donald Engle, U.S.N, Michael Engle, Jamie Engle; six great grandchildren; four siblings, Anna Elizabeth "Bette" Fox, Mervin J. Richard (Betty Mae), Dorothy R. Shahan and James E. Richard (Betty). Kathryn's family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Elsa Miles for her devoted and loving care. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Fri., Mar. 15, 2013 at the Centreville United Methodist Church. Family and friends may call at the church from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thurs., Mar. 14, 2013. Interment will be at Chesterfield Cemetery, Centreville, Md. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Centreville United Methodist Church, 608 Hope Road, Centreville, MD 21617; Hospice of Queen Anne's Inc., 255 Comet Drive, Centreville, MD 21617 or the Parkinsons' Disease Foundation, 1369 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.
