Kathleen Kirkpatrick Amalfitano

Galena, MD - Kathleen Kirkpatrick Amalfitano died Feb. 27, 2013 at home. Mrs. Amalfitano was born on Jan. 31, 1937 in Plainfield, N.J., daughter of the late Douglas and Florence Still Colhoun. In 1954, her career as a secretary began with Sun Shipbuilding and Dry Dock in Chester, Pa. She was also employed at Mount Pleasant Junior High School, Amtrak and the State of Delaware, Legislative Hall, retiring in 2000. She had lived in Wilmington, Del. and Essington, Pa. before relocating to Beechwood Glen, Galena, Md., in 1988. Mrs. Amalfitano enjoyed sewing, knitting, baking and doting on her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul P. Amalfitano in 1987. She is survived by her four children, Doug Amalfitano (Helen) of Newark, Del., Kathleen Amalfitano of Dover, Del., Shelly Cope (Dave) of Punta Gorda, Fla. and Paula Tiber (Phil) of Earleville, Md.; a sister, Evie Phillips (Jim) of Dover; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
