HARRINGTON - Kathi M. Grant, of Harrington, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was 43. Kathi was a homemaker. She was regarded as a great artist who could draw beautiful art as well as make great piñatas. She loved her crafts and made numerous paper mache masterpieces over the years. Her favorite activity was going to the beach and spending time next to the ocean. She enjoyed collecting driftwood, sand, and rocks that washed up on the shore. Whenever possible, she would vacation at the beach. Kathi was known as very outgoing where everybody was a friend. She could be blunt at times, and was known for saying things like it was. She was very sentimental about birthdays and holidays and made time to recognize even the little things. She made sure her sons went to church every Sunday, and she looked forward to going herself and spent countless hours talking about the Bible and Bible stories. She lived her beliefs and believed in giving to all. Her family was her world and she accepted all her son's friends as her own children. She especially had a soft spot for Michael, Amanda, and Mark. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by a cousin, James Redden Jr.; and uncle, Gary Redden. She is survived by her parents, James Grant of Seaford and Nancy Grant of Harrington; sons, Matthew D. Grant and his girlfriend Miranda Wright of Harrington, and Caleb C. Grant of Harrington; maternal grandmother, June Severe of Harrington; siblings, Maria Redden of Harrington, Linda Young of Harrington, Jimmy Grant, Larry Grant, Donny Grant and his wife Sharon, Danny Grant and his wife Jennifer, Megan Grant and David Grant; niece, Christina Butler; nephew, Sean Colbert; uncles, James Redden Sr., and Roger Redden; and aunt, Lois Pinson. Services will be 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at Asbury United Methodist Church, Harrington, where visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses. Letters of condolence can be made at www.melvinfuneralhome.com.
