Katherine R. Corkell

Katherine R. Corkell, 82 DENTON, Md. - Katherine R. Corkell, died Saturday, March 27, 2010, in the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family. She was 82. Born in New Castle January 18, 1928, Mrs. Corkell was the daughter of the late Elwood Pearl Lahman and Menolia Viola Frampton Lahman. Her husband, John Wesley Corkell Jr. (Johnny Boy), died December 31, 2004. Mrs. Corkell moved to Caroline County in the early 1940's from Federalsburg, Md. when she and her husband were married. Through the years, she and her husband farmed in Maryland and Delaware and raised their family. They were members of AARP and the Harrington Moose Lodge 534. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Corkell was preceded in death by two daughters, Julie Boyd and Bonnie K. Cane; her son, John Wesley Corkell III; her sister, Erma Bradley; two brothers, Merrill Lahman and Lennon Lahman; and one grandchild, Michelle Tillotson. Mrs. Corkell is survived by her daughter, Doris L. Usilton of Denton, Md.; one sister, Eleanor Rogers of Seaford; four brothers, Arvel Lahman of Federalsburg, Md., Linwood Lahman of Newark, Douglas Lahman of Harrington, and Donald Lahman of Jacksonville, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second St., Denton, Md., where friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday. The interment will be in the Denton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests for friends to send memorial donations to the Caroline County Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 362, Denton, MD 21629.
