Karen Ann Bergmann

DOVER - Karen Ann Bergmann passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Kent General Hospital. She was 72. Mrs. Bergmann was born July 11, 1941 in Dubuque, Iowa to the late Harvey Kreps and Marion Schmitz Kreps. She received her BA in Accounting from Holy Family University after raising her children and worked as an accountant until her retirement. Mrs. Bergmann enjoyed crafts, needlework and cross stitch. She belonged to the Newcomers Club, and several genealogy societies, including the Downstate Delaware Geneological Society. Mrs. Bergmann was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church where she was very active in Bingo and was a hostess for bereavement receptions. She was also involved with scouting with her children when they were young. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, David Kreps. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, William Bergmann of Dover; son, John Bergmann and his wife Mary, of West Chester, Pa.; daughter, Kathy Bergmann, of Yardley, Pa.; brother, Dennis Kreps, of W. Suffield, Conn.; sisters, Susan Hoffmann, of Shelbyville, Ky. and Sally Nahas of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and granddaughters, Sarah and Ashley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2014 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday evening at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover, DE. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Living Beyond Breast Cancer, 354 West Lancaster Avenue, Suite 224, Haverford, PA 19041.
