Columbia - Justiliano Rivera, 90, of Columbia, died Friday, July 17, 2015. Born May 1, 1925 in Cayey, Puerto Rico, he was a son of the late Maximino and Josefa Gutierrez Rivera. Mr. Rivera was a very hardworking man. He worked in the construction industry in Delaware for 40 years, and did not retire until he was 83. He loved animals, especially his pets, Kyle and Autumn. Survivors include his wife, Candace Atkinson Rivera; a daughter, Jessica Rivera of Houston, Texas; sister, Doris (Angel) Labrador of Columbia; five additional brothers and sisters of Puerto Rico; nephews, Edgar (Tyna) Labrador, Vermont (Babs) Labrador, Angel (Stacy) Labrador, Jr., Raphael Labrador, Ricky Labrador, Julio Rivera; niece, Doris Init (Charles) Harvey; great-niece, Julia Labrador; as well as several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers. A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Rivera will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 25, 2015, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 100 Polo Road, Columbia, with The Rev. Fr. C. Alexander McDonald officiating. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.
