DOVER - June Regina Briggs passed away Saturday Jan. 5, 2013 at home. Mrs. Briggs was born June 12, 1920 in Holyoke, Colo. to the late Albert Hubbard Liles and Kathryn Rose Hahn Liles. After she worked teaching in one-room schools on the Nebraska prairie, she married Paul K. Briggs in 1943, and began a life of travel as an Army wife. In their later years together they lived in Germany, Italy, twice in Japan and several east coast states. She decorated her home with eclectic mix that mirrored her travels. She was a talented painter who also loved to read, listen to music and work with children. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years on March 29, 2002. She is survived by her son, Lyle Kenneth Briggs and his wife Danette of Dover; two grandchildren, Daniel Briggs and his wife Stephanie of West Chester, Pa., and Paula Piccoli and her husband Robert of Madison, Wis.; three great grandchildren, Matthew, Zoe and Madeline. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, (Rt.10), Dover. Funeral and interment services will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 209 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901 or Delaware Hospice, 911 S. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE 19901. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at torbertfuneral.com.
