Claire Ward, 81 FELTON - Juliette 'Julie' Claire Ward passed away Wednesday Jan. 30, 2013 at Kent General Hospital. She was born Jan. 28, 1932 in Bronx, N.Y. to Paul Gleman and Matilda Finocchi Gleman. Mrs. Ward was a homemaker and was very devoted to her family. Her best times were being with her grandchildren, whom she adored. In her early years, Mrs. Ward was a talented artist, including commercial work, in which she won contests for her distinguished artistry. She also enjoyed writing, and was known for her way with words. Julie Ward was a devout Catholic, practicing her faith throughout her years. She was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Parish in Marydel, Del. and an active member of the St. Bernadette Church in Harrington. Mrs. Ward was an avid bowler on various leagues, enjoyed traveling and crocheting. In addition to her parents, Julie was preceded in death by her beloved son, David P. Ward, 2009 and her sister, Norma Roberts. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Edward Harold Ward of Felton; sons, Gregory Ward of Felton, Tony Ward and his wife Michelle of Camden; brother, Paul Gleman and his wife Irina of McKinney, Texas; sister Roberta McClintock of N.Y.; grandchildren, Amanda, Jessica, Ryan, Joshua, Kelsie and Jillian Ward and Shannon Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Alivia. In addition to her family, she is survived by her close family friends of several years Richard and Judith Barnes of Randolph, Mass. and Noreen Joncyzk of Hartly, Del. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to St. Bernadette Church, 109 Dixon Street, Harrington, DE 19952.
