CAMBRIDGE - Juanita LeCompte Cornish Thompson, 80, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007, at Memorial Hospital in Easton.

She was born Oct. 1, 1927, in Cambridge, daughter of the late Anna Cornish Jones and Samuel LeCompte .

Juanita graduated from Frederick D. St. Clair High School in 1944. She was employed by several businesses here in Cambridge such as Phillips Packing Co., Ivy Leonard Canning Factory, Bogash Sewing Factory, Glasgow Nursing Home and most recently the Department of Social Services until her health failed.

She was a long time member of Bethel AME Church of Cambridge. She was supportive of all organizations within the church, but was a member of the following Lay Organization, Willing Workers, Summer Youth Program, Pew Committee, Kitchen Committee, Stewards, Homecoming Committee, Class Leader, Greeter, Bible Study and secretary of the Missionary Society.

She was the wife of the of the late Walter (Snipe) Thompson.

She was survived by her children: Robert Cornish (Cambridge), Rose "Dottie" Bowens (Alfred), Cambridge, a special daughter, Gloria J. Jenkins and a special son, Lory Fields; four grandchildren, Angela Jolley (Laurel), Kimberly Thompson Smith (Curtis), Cambridge, Robin Cornish (Hanover) and Alisha Bowens (Cambridge); eight great – grandchildren, Nykita Jolley (Laurel), Marquita Woolford (Cambridge), Ramar Jolley (Laurel), Jamelle Woolford (Fruitland), Roger Sheffield Jr. (Cambridge), Tr'eMar Ross (Cambridge), Ke'vonte Smith (Cambridge) and Arrielle Smith (Cambridge); two great- great-grandchildren, Derek Wongus III (Laurel , Md.) and Ma'Kyra Ritter (Fruitland); two great-nephews, Kirk Major (Cambridge) and Keith Major (Baltimore) and their family; special cousins Lorraine Rouzer, Gloria Bailey, Janice Willis, Barbara Cornish and several other cousins; a special friend, Ellen Stanley; and all her co- workers at the Department of Social Services, who were her extended family.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Evangeline Thompson; a sister, Viola Seymour; a special niece, Ardella Major; a special great-nephew, Kevin Major and a special cousin, Alto Wilson.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Bethel AME Church, 623 Pine St., Cambridge.

The Henry Funeral Home, PA, in Cambridge is handling the arrangements.
