DOVER - Joyce Ann Nickersonpassed away on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, while vacationing in Orlando, Fla. Joyce was born July 16, 1959 in Dover, to the Late Willard Patterson and Maryetta Wolfie. She had been employed as a chief custodian for over 26 years with the Capitol School District, Dover, before retiring. Joyce was a member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. She loved shopping, playing cards, and spending time with her grandchildren. Joyce is survived by her husband of 17 years, Paul Nickerson; two daughters, Amber Rhine and her husband- Shaun, of Biloxi, Miss, and Melissa Smith, of Dover; son, Bruce Smith, of Newark, Del; three sisters, Terry Gentry and her husband Sam, of Little Creek, Brenda Proud and her husband Bill, of Smyrna, and Edie Soto, of Panama, Fla.; three brothers, William Patterson, Jr. and his wife Joan, of Smyrna, John Webb of Felton, and Charles Patterson and his wife Tammy of Dover; a cousin, Debbie Snow and her spouse Sonja Lowe, of Smyrna; and three grandchildren, Phillip Eanes, of Dover, Nickolas and Kayleigh Rhine, of Biloxi, Miss. Services were held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Delaware Chapter, 2 Mill Road, Suite 106, Wilmington, DE 19806.
