Harshberger 'Tom', 67 SMYRNA - Joseph Thomas Harshberger 'Tom' was called to be with the Lord on Sunday May 26, 2013. He was born on August 12, 1945 in Chambersburg, Pa., a son of the late Samuel Harshberger and Frances (West) Harshberger. He retired from the United States Air Force after 26 years in 1990. Later, he worked for Lockheed-Martin at the Dover AFB on C5 engines and also assisted in writing technical orders on the C-5 engine systems. He was a member of the VFW and of Asbury United Methodist Church, Smyrna. He was forever a student of nature and an avid weather watcher. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lisa K. (Struckman) Harshberger; their children, Kelly K. Harshberger, of Smyrna; and Joseph E. Harshberger, of Dover; a granddaughter Ariel R. Immel; a brother, Samuel Harshberger, of LaVale, Md.; and a sister, Anne (Harshberger) Welch, of St. Petersburg, Fla. Services were private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in his memory to Red Bird Mission, Inc., 70 Queendale Center, Beverly, KY 40913-9607 or by phone (606) 598-3155, or at www.redbird.org.
