Joseph T. Brennan

T. Brennan, 81 DOVER - Ret. Lt. Col. Joseph T. Brennan, died April 27, 2012, at Kent General Hospital. Joe was born March 30, 1931, in Shamokin Pa., the son of Edward and Julia Brennan. He graduated from St. Edwards High School in 1948. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of finance and commerce in 1951, with a B.S. degree in Accounting. Joe enlisted in the U.S. Air Force shortly after graduation. His enlisted status terminated when he entered cadet training, and graduated as a radar observer. In 1958, he took additional flying training at Bryan AFB, Texas, which was the stepping stone to his role as an Air Force Jet Fighter Pilot. He piloted the F-102 and the F-106 Delta Dart. Joe married his hometown sweetheart, Margaret Clair Kline, they were together 51 years. He retired from the Air Force in 1972 and became employed by The Quaker City Motor Parts Company in Middletown, Del. He retired in 1997 as Vice President of Sales. Joe coached American Legion Baseball, was an active volunteer for the Dover High Football Boosters and the City of Dover St. Patrick's Day parade. He enjoyed reading, bowling, collecting stamps and coins, accounting, Jeopardy and tea-berry ice cream. He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret C. Brennan; brother, Robert J. Brennan; and his sister, Mary Louise Thorne. Joseph is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Brennan; son, Robert Brennan; son, Matthew Brennan and his wife Cheryl; four grandchildren, Ryan, Kelsey, Amber and Kyle; brother, Edward Brennan and his wife Betty of Drexel Hill, Pa; sister, Anna Mae Schu and her husband John of Langhorne, Pa.; and his faithful golden retriever companion, Maggie. A memorial service will be held at noon, Friday, May 4, 2012, at Holy cross Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment with honors will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
