TOWNSEND - Jon Marcus Perry, of Townsend, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at home. He was 34. Jon was born Nov. 2, 1974, in Wilmington, the son of Lester M. Perry III, and Nancy King Perry of Townsend. Jon was an avid bowler who enjoyed bowling in the Riders League in Brunswick Doverama Bowling Lanes in Dover. He enjoyed reading and was also a NASCAR fan who cheered for the #9 Budweiser Dodge of Kasey Kahne. Jon had a special fondness for helping senior citizens and would do so whenever possible. They were known to love him in return. He loved his Granny Cora Perry of Townsend, and loved his late grandfather Lester Perry's antique tractors and enjoyed riding them in parades. But more than anything, Jon loved his son, little Jon of Smyrna, whom he waited 30 years for to be in his life. In addition to his son, parents and paternal grandmother, he is survived by his brother, Michael D. Perry of Middletown; his maternal grandparents, Earl and Sarah Hargan of Frederica; four aunts, Cathy Megenness and her husband John of Bear, Barbara Houser of Milford, Dawn Wissinger and her husband David of Smyrna, and Tracy Clark, also of Smyrna; three uncles, David King and his wife Janet of Harrington, Brian King of Milton, and Clinton Hargan and his wife Kristin of York, Pa.; and many other relatives and friends. A viewing will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 22, in the Free Will Baptist Church located at 4519 DuPont Parkway, Townsend. Funeral services will begin at noon. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Smyrna. In lieu of flowers, a Trust Fund has been established for his son, little Jon. Contributions may be sent by visiting any Wilmington Trust Branch. Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium Inc., 29 South Main Street, Smyrna. Letters of condolence may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
