Camden - John W. Murphy died on Saturday, May 17 at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE. John was born July 7, 1935 in the Bronx, New York, the son of the late John and Marion Murphy. He was educated in New York at Cardinal Hayes High School, Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute and New York University. In 1968, following a successful career in industry, John founded Atlantic Management Company, a Valuation and Financial Advisory firm located in Portsmouth, NH. The company thrived under his tenure as President and later Chairman and continues under the able leadership of his son, John P. Murphy. John is survived by Patricia Drohan, his wife of 55 years, his sons John P. Murphy (Jill Hutchins), of Dover, NH, and Kevin M. Murphy (Debra Rio), of Marlborough, MA, and his daughter Theresa M. Murphy (Frances Cardaci), of Dover, DE, and his sister, Jean Shannon, of Jefferson Valley, NY. He is also survived by his pride and joy, his grandchildren Courtney, Kate and Sean of Dover, NH with whom he shared his love of the ocean at Sunday outings to Great Island Common in New Castle, NH. There are no calling hours. A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date. If desired, and in lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963; to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256; or to a charity of one's choice. Please include John's name on your donation. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all Bayhealth Kent General staff, but especially the ICU and IMC staffs for the remarkable care, love and support shown by all, and to the staff at Delaware Hospice Center for their gentle and caring touch in his final days. Life's End Services are by Michael J. Ambruso Funeral Director, Inc., Dover, DE. Condolences may be forwarded and the Guest Book signed via www.ambruso.com
