John W. Koshar
CAMBRIDGE - John William Koshar, 65, of Cambridge, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, at University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore.
Born on April 6, 1941, in Pleasant Unity, Pa., he was the son of the late Theodore Nicholas Koshar and Mary Elizabeth Rakar Koshar.
Mr. Koshar was a graduate of Hurst High School, Norvelt, Pa., Class of 1959.
He served his country in the United States Air Force from Jan. 27, 1960 to Jan. 24, 1964 as an electronics technician.
Mr. Koshar moved to Cambridge to work at Airpax Corp. and was currently working for Airpax and Egide USA up to the time of his sudden illness.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 91, Cambridge.
Mr. Koshar enjoyed helping Linkwood-Salem Volunteer Fire Department with their dinners and chicken barbecuing.
He was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, feeding his birds and the outdoors in general. Mr. Koshar was also a sportsman. He enjoyed golf and was a Pittsburgh Steeler and Pittsburgh Pirates fan.
Surviving is his son, Justin T. Koshar, also of Cambridge, from the union of former wife, Jackie Handley; Justin's girlfriend, Crystal Dickerson; four sisters, Mary Anne Odendahl and her husband, Bob Odendahl of Latrobe, Pa., Theodora Brooky and her husband, Ron Brooky of North Canton, Ohio, Cathy Zimmerman and her husband, Norm Zimmerman of Perryopolis, Pa., Rose Zukiewicz and her husband, Paul Zukiewicz of Huntersville, N.C.; four brothers, Paul Koshar and his wife, Laura Bronson Koshar of Greensburg, Pa., William Koshar and his wife, Marlene Pekala Koshar of Belle Vernon, Pa., George Koshar and his wife, Jeannie Lowther Koshar of Pleasant Unity, Pa., Edward Koshar and his wife, Linda Koshar of Greensburg, Pa., several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
