Bailey, 65 DOVER - John Thoroughgood Bailey, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012 at Kent General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Jan. 7, 1947 in Dover, Del., the son of the late Hilda M. and Fred R. Bailey. "Jack" was a 1965 graduate of Dover Senior High School. He began his career for the United States Postal Service upon graduation. Beginning as a dock worker, his work ethic and dedication enabled him to become the Postmaster of the Millsboro, Camden-Wyoming, Milford, Rehoboth, and Dover Post Offices. He remained in Dover until his retirement in 2002. He was a successful businessman with a kind and caring heart. Jack loved life and was devoted to his tight-knit family and many friends. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather-sharing a special bond with his granddaughter, Cullen, whom he adored. Jack enjoyed watching Nascar and football, especially "his Steelers." He also was a fan of horseracing and loved animals of all kinds. He will also be remembered for his generous spirit. He loved to occupy his days by helping both friends and family-no task too big or too small. He had a wonderful sense of humor and an unwavering positive attitude. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Linda G. Bailey; his daughter, Jennifer L. Torgerson and son-in-law, Scott Torgerson of Camden-Wyoming, Del.; his brother, Joseph Bailey and wife Connie Bailey of Dover, Del.; mother-in-law, Dorothy Garthwaite and father-in-law, John Garthwaite of Dover, Del.; brother-in-law, John Garthwaite; granddaughter, Cullen L. Kisner; two step grandsons, Zachary Torgerson and Nathan Torgerson; nephew, Greg Bailey; niece, Kathleen Bailey and many loving cousins and friends. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to American Diabetes Association 100 West 10th St., Suite 1002,Wilmington, DE 19801.
