GREENWOOD - John Ruben Van Hoy passed away Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012 in Milford Memorial Hospital. John was born in Summersville, W.Va. the son of John R. Van Hoy and the late Cathy (Fitzwater) Van Hoy. He worked at the Sussex Correction Center in Georgetown as an L.P.N. Before that he worked as a cook at Ruby Tuesdays in Milford for four years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Frederica. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and kayaking. He loved spending time in the wilds of West Virginia. He loved people and especially loved the Lord as well as life itself. He is survived by his father, John R. Van Hoy; a brother, Kyle J. Van Hoy; his paternal grandfather, G. R. Van Hoy; and his wife, Carol and his paternal grandmother, Ruth Van Hoy; his maternal grandmother, Mary Singer; his aunts and uncles, Larry and Jeanie Warner, Teresa and Terry Winfree and Nancy and Joe Thomas; as well as several cousins. A memorial service celebrating Ruben's life will be held at 4 p.m. on Nov. 17, 2012 at the Open Door Baptist Church, Route1, Frederica, DE. Arrangements by Lofland Funeral Home, Milford, DE.
