
FELTON - John Lewis Harris passed away on Nov. 5, 2012 at the Veterans hospital in Elsmere. John Lewis Harris was born on Jan. 4, 1950 in Augusta, Ga. John Harris served as an aircrew life support supervisor in Vietnam for 16 years. He was awarded the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with one device, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with two devices, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with three devices, and The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. After John ended his service in the Air Force he resided in Delaware. John Harris enjoyed cooking and decorating the Christmas tree. His hobbies included fishing, walking, and watching football (Eagles). He leaves to cherish his memories the love of his life, Gertrude E. Parker of Felton; great comfort and friends to John Harris were, Anna Parker of Dover, Alberta Parker of Felton, Samuel Parker of Milford, and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012 at the Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 717 W. Division St., Dover, DE, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
