ST. GEORGES, Del. - John J. "Jack" Longacre, Sr., passed away Friday, March 14, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Jack was an entrepreneur who was involved in various business operations. He raised thoroughbred race horses, owned Jack's Buffet, Triangle Auto Sales, Bridge Auto Sales, and Jack's Deli. Jack also served as head cook at the Howard Weston Senior Center. He was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan. Jack was a member of Moose Lodge 1578. Jack is survived by his loving wife of over 40 years, Rose Longacre; three sons, Andy Longacre, Bruce Davis (Susan), and Thomas Davis (Amy); daughter, Jaclyn (significant other, Roger); two grandchildren, Brianna and Mackenzie; two brothers, C. Howard "Butch" Longacre (Laura) and Frank Longacre (June); and brother-in-law, Wilbur Alger. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Anna Longacre; daughter, Catherine Longacre; son, John Jesse Longacre, Jr.; brother, Harvey Longacre, Jr.; and sister, Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Alger. A visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, De 19702, followed by a service in celebration of Jack's life at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Jack's memory to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Rd., Ste. 100, Wilmington, DE 19810.
