MILFORD - John Henry Franklin McBroom, Jr., died at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013. He was born in Baxter, Tenn., on March 5, 1930. He enjoyed rabbit hunting and gardening. Mr. McBroom was employed by Shorgood Poultry in Milford, for 23 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bessie (Campbell) McBroom; a daughter, Rebecca McBroom; siblings and family members, Gilbert McBroom and wife Hattie, Morris McBroom and daughter Wendy, Calvin McBroom, Larry McBroom, Doris, Thelma, Gay Smack and husband Harris, Callie Hearn and husband Bill; grandchildren, Sandra Forder, Amanda McBroom and Gared Sullenger McBroom. He is survived by his wife, Loretta Unruh; a brother, Ernie McBroom; two sons, John Wayne McBroom, Sr., and wife, Becki of Milford, Rodney J. McBroom and wife Cindy, of Lincoln; two daughters, Sandra Forder of Clayton and Marsha Council and husband, David of Smyrna; two step-children, Mike Unruh and wife Brenda of Felton, Norma Scouten of Harrington; five grandchildren, Stuart Council, of Smyrna, Alice McBroom of Lincoln, Shawn Scouten, of Harrington, Allen Betts of Milton, Emma Grace McBroom, John W. McBroom, Jr., Nathan Wyatt and Jason Tucker, all of Milford; four great-grandchildren, Joshua McBride, of Clayton, Cameron Council of Dover and Lillian McBroom of Lincoln. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013 at Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, with visitation after 11 a.m. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery.
