
DOVER - John H. Fuhr, Sr. died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012. Mr. Fuhr was born May 15, 1946 in Wilmington, Del., the son of the late Davis R. Fuhr, Sr. and Jean Miket Fuhr. He started John's Well Drilling in 1974 and continued the business for the next 24 years until his retirement in 1998, where he then passed on the business to his son. John enjoyed crabbing and fishing. He also enjoyed working in the garage on his various projects with his buddy, Ralph "Dude" Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Davie Fuhr, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Grace Ann Fuhr; a son, John H. Fuhr, Jr. and his wife, Shannon of Smyrna, Del.; a daughter, Tonya Snow and her husband, Steve, Jr. of Clayton, Del.; five grandchildren, Chelsea, Katie, Kristen, Dylan, and Julie; a brother, William P. Fuhr of Dover; two sisters, Shirley Hestera and her husband Bob of Clayton, and Vickie Lowman and her husband Glen of Clayton; and several nieces, nephews; extended family members; as well as Drew and Tony, whom he thought of as second sons. A viewing will be held on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012 at 10 a.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at noon.
