He was born in Greenwood on December 7, 1912, son of the late Edgar and Ida (Watson) Dickerson. Jack was a proud veteran of the United States Army serving his country during World War II. Mr. Dickerson was a multi-talented man whose work ethics, integrity, and dedication to the job at hand earned him great respect and many titles over the years; mechanic, farmer, field manager and lastly as a pipe fitter for General Foods in Dover from where he retired in 1978 after 13 years with the company. His greatest loyalty was to his family and he was a shining example of a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Jack will be dearly missed by them all. While stationed in the military, Jack became a member of the Masonic Lodge of Charleston, S.C., and was recently honored as the longest standing member of the lodge. He was also a member of the Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford where he was active for many years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dickerson was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Dickerson and Edgar Reese Dickerson; and two sisters, Ann Roach and Kay Mills. Dickerson of North Carolina; a daughter, Priscilla "PJ" Green and her husband Richard of Milford; five grandchildren, Derrick Dickerson and his wife Jolene, Daniel Dickerson, Debbie Summers and her husband Tom, Christine Green, and Chad Dickerson; five great-grandchildren, Meredith Dickerson, Julianne Dickerson, Richard Reynolds and his wife Alison, Jordan T. Summers, and Hannah E. Summers; and a great-great-granddaughter, Peyton J. Reynolds. Services will be 11 a.m., Monday, November 17, 2014 at Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church St., Milford, where friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow the service in the Milford Community Cemetery.
