John 'Sampy' Charles Bishop Jr., 55

GOLDSBORO, Md. - John "Sampy" Charles Bishop Jr. of Goldsboro died Wednesday, March 27, 2007, at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore. He was 55.

John C. Bishop Jr. was born Oct. 22, 1951, in Easton, Md., the son of the late John Charles and Irma "Hall" Bishop.

Mr. Bishop worked for Choptank Electric as a chief lineman and had just retired March 2. Mr. Bishop was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, restoring old cars and fishing.

Mr. Bishop loved spending time with his family and was very involved with his sons and their activities growing up, from coaching their Little League team in Greensboro to being involved with them through Boy Scouts.

Mr. Bishop is survived by his wife, "Lisa" Sara Melissa Bishop of Goldsboro; two sons, John "JB" Bronson Bishop of Denton, Md., and Cody Abram Bishop of Greensboro, Md.; two sisters, Mary Jean Jacquette of Rock Hall, Md., and Jan Bishop Murphy of Florida; two nieces; two great nephews; and one great-niece.

Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Centreville United Methodist Church in Centreville, Md. Friends may call one hour prior.

Interment will be held in Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Rock Hall, Md.

Instead of flowers, contributions can be sent to the Choptank Electric Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 426. Denton, MD. 21629.
