SMYRNA - John C. Wrightson passed away peacefully on Jun. 5, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Wilmington on Jul. 8, 1936, John was the son of the late Robert and Helen (Stayton) Wrightson. John was raised in Wilmington and held several jobs. He started his career as a surveyor, then worked for a time on the Lamont DuPont Estate, then at Brooks Armored Car, before spending most of his career as a locksmith for the Delaware Trust Company at their Penny Hill location, finally retiring in 1994. After his retirement he enjoyed spending time with, working for, and helping his friends at Smith Auto Parts in Wilmington. John was an avid PHILLIES and NASCAR fan, Richard Petty and Dale Earnhart Sr. were his favorite drivers. He loved vacationing at the beach with his family and enjoyed oil painting and woodworking. He was well known for his ability to make people smile. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Wrightson who was the love of his life. In addition, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marjorie Young; his brother, Robert Wrightson; and his grandson, Jonathan Paquette. He is survived by three daughters, Sheryl Paquette (Reagan) of Kenton, Vicki Bonsall of Wilmington, and Bonnie Wrightson of Smyrna; two brothers, James of Elsmere, and Ronald (Lynn) of Ypsilant, Michigan. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Daniel Brown (Autumn), Jeffrey Paquette (Erica), and Christopher Bonsall (Stephanie); and great-granddaughters, Callie Paquette and Alexia Taylor. A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Sat., Jun. 13, 2015 at the Brandywine Hundred Volunteer Fire Company at 1006 Brandywine Blvd., Wilmington, DE 19809. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until noon. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Brandywine Hundred Vol. Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, 1006 Brandywine Blvd., Wilmington, DE 19809.
