MIDDLETOWN - JoAnne Coverdale, 72, of Middletown, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014. Joanne was born on August 10, 1941 to Herbert and Mary Helen (Matthews) DeHart in Bluefield, West Virginia. Her family moved to Delaware where she grew up and went to school, she graduated from P.S. DuPont High School. JoAnne loved spending time with her family, children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed the residents and staff at Silver Lake Nursing Home in Dover, where she was always happy to join in making arts and crafts. She made many friends at the nursing home. The family would like to extend their gratitude and thankfulness for the love and care the staff and administrators at Silver Lake Nursing Home, gave to Joanne while she was a resident. JoAnne was preceded in death by her father, Herbert DeHart; her mother, Mary Helen DeHart-Hinkey; and stepfather, Donald Hinkey; her loving husband, John Coverdale, Jr.; her daughter, Tina Marie Coverdale; and her brother, Douglas DeHart. She is survived by her daughters, Lisa Hatfield (Rodney), Karen Lobley (Mark); her son, John Coverdale, III (Karen); sisters-in-law, Barbara DeHart, Barbara Rausch (Bobby), Dorothy Willoughby (Bob); grandchildren, Jeff and Ashley Mullen, Drew Lobley, and Sarah Coverdale; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad Street, Middletown, DE 19709. The service will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Forest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers you can donate to the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Delaware, 100 West 10th Street Suite 209, Wilmington, DE 19801.
