Joan M. Shuba

WYOMING - Joan M. Shuba of Wyoming, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at home with all her family. She was born Jan. 26, 1938 in Chatham, N.J. to the late Sydney Craven and Frances Searle Craven. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Benson Craven; her sister, Shirley Craven; & her sister-in-law, Katie Craven. She attended LaSalle College in Auburndale, Mass., and graduated with an Arts Degree. She married her husband Bob, of 55 years after graduation in 1957 and was a dedicated mother, homemaker, friend, chef and sports fan. Joan was President of the Camden-Wyoming Little League and an avid CR supporter & fan of wrestling, football & baseball. At age 50 she graduated from Wesley College with her daughter Cindy as an RN and worked in Critical Care at Kent General Hospital for 10 years and then moved to become an RN at Delaware Hospice until she retired. She loved life, people, her friends and demonstrated it with humor, compassion & love. Joan took in three teenagers who were in distress and helped make their lives a success. She loved her children, grandchildren, the Minnesota Vikings, Professional football, golf and was an excellent putter. The children are, Robin Shuba Diaz, Duane Shuba, Cindy Shuba, Brian Shuba & his wife, Carol. The grandchildren are, Michael & Kylie Shuba, Dylan & Dylanee Diaz & Nicole, Jordan, Jessica and Lindsey Shuba. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday May 4, 2012 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (RT 10), Dover. Friends may visit from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday evening. Burial will be private. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guest book signed at torbertfuneral.com.
