MILTON - Jesse Millman, of Milton, beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather was born on Memorial Day, May 30, 1924. He went to be with his wife, Betty and daughter, Tammy on May 9, 2014. He was a gentle, loving father who showed his children how to be a good parent. His love, gentleness and dependability were seen throughout his life. He was one of fifteen children; the eleventh child and the seventh son born to Edward and Bessie Millman. He is survived by one brother, Robert Millman. Jesse worked for Draper King Cole in Milton until his retirement at the age of seventy. He attended the Grace Church in Milton. Family, gardening, hunting and sports brought joy into the life of Jesse. He played baseball and was inducted into the Eastern Shore Baseball Hall of Fame. A warm spot in his heart was the Milton Little League where he coached young boys-always praising their efforts. Of course, the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies were his teams of choice! Jesse was a member of the Cape Henlopen School Board and a faithful scorekeeper for the Cape Henlopen Basketball Team. When not keeping score, you could find him on the top row of the bleachers cheering the team on to victory. But, by far, what brought him the most joy was his family. Jesse is survived by his son, Jesse Millman II and his wife Patti, granddaughter, Dawn Hopkins and husband Johnny, great grandson, Izaak and great grandson, Justin and wife Alison, grandson, Shawn Croswell and wife Wendi and granddaughter, Kaitlyn; daughter, Joyce Rauch, granddaughter, Jennifer Rauch, granddaughter, Dawn Taylor and husband Troy, great granddaughter, Alyssa and great grandson, Troy (LT), grandson, Rusty Rauch and wife Katie and great granddaughter, Haley and great grandson, Hunter; daughter, Diane Lockwood, grandson, Don Lockwood and wife Kerry, great granddaughters, Kirstin, Elizabeth, Victoria, and Meredith, grandson, Darin Lockwood and wife Rebecca, great grandsons, Alexander and Andrew. The time of visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton. Flowers are welcomed but contributions to the Milton Little League are appreciated. Milton Little League, P.O. Box 175, Milton, DE 19968.
